Our waiting is over! Today we celebrate the of the birth of our savior. Just as the prophets foretold, Jesus was born to a virgin in Bethlehem through the lineage of David. A bright star led kings and shepherds there to bestow him with gifts and adoration.
Christmas is a time of joy in which we celebrate the gift of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! What an awesome time! But for many, Christmas is not a time of joy. Many people experience the emptiness of loss, stress, pain and disappointment this time of year.
Advent is upon us which marks a season of anticipation, hope and finally celebration. Beginning four Sundays before Christmas and ending on Christmas eve, Advent helps us prepare for the arrival of our Savior. The word “advent” is derived from the Latin word for “coming” or “arrival” and is observed with a combination of celebration for Jesus’ birth and hope for the day he returns to fulfill his promise.
