Coming up on March 30-31, Oak Hills Christian College will host the first annual Chinook days. Deriving its name from a meteorological term that describes warm west winds which usher in spring, our hope is that Chinook will usher students into a new season of their spiritual lives.
Duck to Avoid the Puck! Intramural Christian Athletics opportunities at Oak Hills College
It's not just formal programming that makes Oak Hills the best Christian College in Minnesota. A great on campus college experience must include fun.
Sports on campus are not just for those who can play volleyball, basketball, or run cross-country. We have some intramural teams as well, for those who love to be active and compete but need a more relaxed atmosphere and something less time-consuming than a full-season team that travels.
Oak Hills Christian College New Residence Hall Update
We have a lot going on at Oak Hills right now!
Not only are we in process of constructing a brand new state-of-the-art residence hall, but we've also redesigned the main road and entrace to our campus. It is going to look amazing when it is done, with plans to widen it to 50 feet, and add sidewalks and light poles the whole way in! This is going to provide a really nice road into campus and a comfortable and safe walkway for our students to get from campus apartment buildings to the main quad. The plan is to have this work done before students get here in the Fall.
We also held our official groundbreaking ceremony for the new residence halls on Saturday. Many current students, alumni, staff, board members, and community members attended that. We had a short program beforehand and prayed for the new building too. You can check out the whole story on Lakeland News.
New Residence Hall Comes To Oak Hills Christian College
HOORAY for Real Transformation! New construction has begun at Oak Hills.
The crews have started tearing up sidewalks and are currently digging for the plumbing. The official groundbreaking is going to occur on May 7th right after this spring's wonderful Senior class graduates! When it's done this project will help make Oak Hills one of the nicest Christian colleges in Minnesota.
It is an interesting concept, watching the crews work while I should be doing work in my office, but seeing the start of this new building is too exciting of an experience for me. I’ve watched many students on the front porches of current residence halls watching the crews too. Maybe I should tell them to do their homework? I think they are just as excited to be moving into the new space as we are to see the new building go up. This is a great step to improving Christian college student life. Currently, many of our younger students are staying in halls that were originally built in the 1950’s. As we continue to work towards our goal of being one the country's top christian colleges, this upgrade is perfectly timed.
What's the secret to happiness away from home? It all starts with cookie night.
One of the things that Oak Hills is known for is the tightly-knit community we foster not only among the students but also with the faculty and staff.
One of the most popular events within the school are the Hostetter Cookie Nights, when the entire staff, faculty, and student body are invited to come to a fellowship at President Steven Hostetter’s house. There's nothing like a homemade cookie to make you feel like you belong.
