Oak Hills Christian College’s campus is nestled in 185 acres of wooded, rolling hills overlooking serene Lake Marquette. As you can imagine, this nature-friendly campus provides students with endless activities to keep their bodies and souls healthy throughout the year, even in the dead of winter! While the sub-zero temperatures aren’t for the faint-hearted, Minnesota-approved winter gear and these winter activities will help you seize the deep freeze!
Over the last year, we’ve watched as campus transformed into something new. Central to these changes has been the development of Thompson Hall. As students begin moving into their new rooms, we are anticipating an even greater strength in community.
Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered as one of the most influential figures in history. As a Christian minister, Dr. King’s main influences were the gospel and his faith in Jesus Christ, which he used as the foundation for his tireless civil rights efforts.
Deciding where to go to college is a big decision and a huge investment of time, money and hard work. What programs are available and what career or ministry do I want to pursue? What kinds of people will I meet? Will I stay close to home or study abroad? These are some of the questions you’ve probably pondered when considering one of the biggest decisions in your life so far.
It was a wild ride full of adventure, for the most part. There were amazing highs and precipitous drops accompanied by abrupt and sudden changes of direction. There were moments of sheer terror and moments of utter exhilaration. On the other hand, although rarely, it was sometimes languid and slow, tedious even. So what am I talking about? Whitewater rafting? Riding a roller coaster? Helicopter ride?

I was away in England--the longest time away from my family. It was the first time the song 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' actually made sense. I was thinking, 'I actually get to spend time with them, I actually really miss them.' The journey to get there was so hard. I'd been awake for over 24 hours. I started in Carnforth, England and drove to London. It was a 6 hour drive. The airport hadn't opened yet and my flight had changed to an even later time. We'd taken a bus, then slept on the airport floor. The people I was traveling with left their luggage with me to get food, and while they were gone the plane boarded. I tried to find them. An airport attendant even called over the intercom, but the plane left without them. It was so stressful! I got to MN--an 8 hour plane ride--and then had another flight to Bemidji. I remember flying over Bemidji and seeing the stores and movie theatre--so many familiar things! I was finally able to get off and my family and two good friends were there--they cried and I cried when I hugged my dad. My brothers were awake when I got home, too. That's what I remember--seeing the people.
Ahh… Christmas Break. Such a sweet sound. Your finals are done. The pressure of course work has been lifted from your shoulders. You are now ready to head out! YAY! Good job getting through the final days of the 2016 Fall Semester. Say goodbye to your friends and professors for now, but come back this spring to say hi again.

Oak Hills: personal on purpose. While the popular page Humans of New York and a plethora of others are posting pictures and comments from strangers, our little community contains people who are strangers only to the rest of the world. Using #humansofoakhills we are hoping to open our campus up to the rest of the world through these subtle, insightful snapshots.
