Thursday, September 22, 2016

Are you (or your parents) hoping you’ll attend college close to home? Are you hoping to spread your wings and explore different parts of the country? Maybe you want to find a college as far away from home as possible. Geographical location is a big factor in deciding which colleges and universities to add to your shopping list. Consider proximity to campus housing, grocery stores, restaurants, entertainment, and  transportation hubs, such as the airport.

Life At Oak Hills

Thursday, September 08, 2016

As I made my way through college I made plans to be a career women and live in Bismarck, North Dakota. This made total sense to me because I am originally from there. God must have laughed out loud. Soon before my plans were finalized, I met the man who is now my husband. Where did the Lord take us you may ask? Definitely not North Dakota. We live in Northern MN. Bemidji, MN to be precise. I thought what in the world am I doing here?! There is nothing here! Oh boy was I wrong. Northern MN is definitely God’s country. In a nut shell you get trees, lakes, beaches, wildlife, sunshine, rain, snow, and four very different types of seasons.

The 90th Homecoming celebration at Oak Hills held August 26th-28th was a tremendous success. The weekend was a unique blend of rich history, live music, fabulous food, poignant testimonies, and just plain frivolity, with almost 200 alumni, staff, faculty and students coming together. Attendance this year was enhanced by the intentional timing of the event to allow current students and alumni to mingle and share perspectives from the past, as well as the present.

Alumni to Celebrate Oak Hills’ 90th Anniversary

CELEBRATING THE PAST

90 years ago six men met under a large oak tree and prayed, “Lord, give us this land.” They asked God to give them this piece of land for a Christian camp and training center. They raised $250 to purchase 14 acres of shoreline on Lake Marquette. The dream was fully realized the next summer when Camp Oak Hills was born, followed two decades later by the opening of Oak Hills Christian Training School.

What Sets Oak Hills Apart From Other Christian Colleges in Minnesota

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” -Matthew 5:16

At Oak Hills Christian College our mission is to provide biblically centered higher education which contributes to growth toward Christlikeness and prepare students for effective service in their homes, careers, churches and communities. While we know we are saved by grace, it is our good works and Christlike actions that help point others to our savior, as mentioned in Matthew.

It's not just formal  programming that makes Oak Hills the best Christian College in Minnesota. A great on campus college experience must include fun.

Oak Hills Christian College New Residence Hall Update

Thursday, May 19, 2016

We have a lot going on at Oak Hills right now!

Not only are we in process of constructing a brand new state-of-the-art residence hall, but we've also redesigned the main road and entrace to our campus. It is going to look amazing when it is done, with plans to widen it to 50 feet, and add sidewalks and light poles the whole way in! This is going to provide a really nice road into campus and a comfortable and safe walkway for our students to get from campus apartment buildings to the main quad.  The plan is to have this work done before students get here in the Fall.

We also held our official groundbreaking ceremony for the new residence halls on Saturday. Many current students, alumni, staff, board members, and community members attended that.  We had a short program beforehand and prayed for the new building too. You can check out the whole story on Lakeland News.
